| the name... Everyone asks me, "How do you pronounce the name of your shop?" Usually followed by, "How did you come up with that name?" "Aggie-als" is derived from my Grandmothers fist names "Agnes" and "Alba." Everything that I want my shop to convey was completely inspired by them. It was important to me to honor their memory somehow so naming my shop after them seemed like the perfect way. I spent a lot of my childhood visiting them in their small town of Marceline, MO (boyhood home of Walt Disney). During those days at each of their homes they shared a lot of time and patience, teaching me arts and crafts, sewing doll clothes and learning to appreciate the beautiful things we choose to surround ourselves with. The boutique is nestled on the main floor of a beautiful century old home which is the perfect backdrop for the vintage theme you'll find throughout. Cottage, Shabby-Chic and Romantic style decorating is my niche. It's all about lacy linens, pretty plates, teacups and saucers, old floral hats and beaded purses. Pictures, with unique frames, from the 50's and earlier cover the walls along with ornate etched mirrors. A pastel palette and architectural salvage, I think, give it a timeless and serene feel. A collection of vintage clothing and jewelry are found everywhere in the shop, sometimes in unexpected places. Most everyone seems to love sea connections so seashells are a constant influence while decorating. They give a touch of whimsy when scattered on a lace tablecloth or filling a sparkling glass bowl. Putting a large Conch shell in an empty cubby hole and draping it with rhinestone jewelry makes for "eye-catching" charm. I have been very fortunate to have my Mom, Patty Eitel, help me at the shop whenever I need a day off or more scavenging time. Our customers love her and she keeps me encouraged and motivated when I need a little extra lift. Every year (est 2002) we usually have 3 to 4 "Open Houses". We serve cheese & wine (and of course, sweets) and offer a percentage off your entire purchase. Come by and see us in Historic downtown Liberty, on the northeast corner of the square, right behind the famous Jesse James Bank Museum. |
